com.android.phone Force Close issue

I own an xperia mini pro and i can replicate the issue always now. When i get an incoming call while the screen is off, if you slide out the keyboard (without opening the screen lock) , immeidately i get a Force close error for com.android.phone.I have Lookout Mobile security along with SayMyName installed. I have tried removing both , but the problem does not seem to go off. I am using Zeam as my home screen. On FC , SayMyName continues to call out the caller (or number if its not recognized) , but the phone application crashes and on closing the FC pop up , the GSM mobile connection reinitiates ( i am not in 3 G). Its just like when you switch on the phone after a shutdown.

I have even tried changing home screen (ADW same problem) , but seems like this issue persists. The problem is i keep my phone in a pouch attached to my belt and when i get a call , many times while bringing out the phone, the sliding of the keyboard happens and i get an FC. Then , there is no way to make out who had called and its very irritating (the call log does not register the call due to the FC).

Anyone has faced this issue or can provide any pointers ? It would be greately appreciated.

Restoring your phone can be useful if you lend out the phone or just want to restore your phone to factory default settings and delete all user data, such as contacts, messages, and downloaded games.

To reset the phone to factory default settings:

From the Home screen, tap the applications bar.
Tap Settings > Privacy > Factory Reset > Reset phone.

i have done factory reset / repair but the issue still comes up.One thing which is to be noted that i have always had the home screen changed (cos i dont like the default home screen) and had used Zeam or ADW with or without lookout mobile security  and with or without SayMyName.

Looks like if mistakenly the keyboard slides (even a bit of it ) out during the incoming call this happens.

Well, you could have your phone checked by a qualified technician in your local Sony Ericsson repair center. Please reply back with your current location to provide you with the best response.

             Thanks for your reply. I am not sure if going to a service/repair centre would be of any help because this does not seem to be a hardware related issue. Previous to the 2.1 update , this was working perfectly fine. This looks more like a s/w issue.

Just to add , now since the new screen lock , if you slightly slide out the keyboard (without even opening it fully) and bring it back again , the screen gets unlocked (it happens for sure on my phone), and i feel that this issue is happening due to that. During the incoming call , if it gets slightly opened and then brought back to the original position, then the phone app crashes.

I dont know if this helps , but yesterday i enabled pattern unlock on my phone , and since then what i am observing is , if the keyboard is slightly opened and then quickly slided back , the screen remains locked and so far i tried to replicate the issue , but looks like that solved the issue. I tried 2-3 time and could not replicate the issue. I will wait for some more days before i can surely call that the issue is resolved.

I hope i could convey the issue and the steps properly , and it surely does look that the phone application does have a bug (not sure if this is being faced by anyone else).

Thanks a lot for providing detailed information on your issue. I recommended you to contact local support to have it checked because if it is a SW issue, it could be changed to another one that is working properly. Since it is working fine now, please try using it for a while and if you have the issue again don't hesitate to contact your local Sony Ericsson support.
