Another Xperia X8 SMS problem

My X8 (running Android 2.1) purchased this week has encountered numerous SMSC issues and I'm becoming tired of trying to solve them tbh!

I solved the issue initially by simply changing the 'preferred network type' from 'WCDMA' to 'GSM'

Secondly I solved the issue by using the 'sony ericsson pc companion'and restoring the phone

Then I restored the phone by texting 'settings' to 2020' (I'm an o2 customer)

Finally I tried using the Sony Ericsson update module and all of the above in turn... is there a lasting solution to this problem?

Also I believe this problem began when I first installed the PC companion software and has returned only when my phone has been connected to my PC.... is this a possible link?

just to explain a little more.. the issue causes my phone to not receive messages!

Have you tried to reinstall / update your phone firmware?  Re-installing firmware might do the trick...

First, don't use PC Companion, use SEUS, there's the link: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=...

Backup your data using Backup/Restore

Download SEUS and install it

Open the main program

and follow the steps

after firmware installation, don't restore your data at this stage.

Set it up as like setting up a newly purchased x8

Use the default carrier settings

Actually you don't need to send something to carrier to obtain their settings (I might be wrong), you just need to do the ff:

go to SETTINGS

tap SONY ERICSSON

choose SETTINGS DOWNLOAD

It will automatically connect to your carrier.

Then check if problem still occurs..  If everything is ok, restore everything EXCEPT system settings.
