Songs playing out of order

My Walkman MP3 player, NWZ-B153, often plays songs in the wrong order.

I've ripped most of them from CDs using iTunes. It usually plays the album tracks in the wrong order, despite the track numbers being in the ID tags and the filenames being in alphabetical order.

Any ideas?

Did they say what the benefit of ignoring disc ("TPOS" tag) was?

The tag existed in 1999, so its not exactly a late addition.

As ever, when you speak to "Customer Support" for a large company like Sony, you're not talking to the actual design architects or coders, just some poor guys in a call centre somewhere. It's very difficult to get to the real answers! But the more customers who bother to contact them and raise the issue, the more chance that something will get done about it.

I have noticed that Sony's MediaGo software does write to that field when you use it to transfer tracks - if there's already a number in "Disc", it adds a forward slash to the field for some reason. So "1" becomes "1/"  (presumably to make "1/n" when concatenated with the Track field.  MediaGo understands this but the ZX100 doesn't.
