We have bought a Viao model: PCG-6Q1M
I have installed windows xp sp2 onto it but seem to have 3 drivers missing in device manager.
I have tried everything I can think of and tried all sorts of drivers but with no joy...
anyone here have any ideas ???
UGX is the bluetooth driver.
Not sure about the others though. Your VAIO has another model number starting VGN- what is this as it helps a lot more to find the drivers that you will be needing and will help find the spec so we can find what those missing devices are.

Here is the preinstalled drivers pack for the SZ3 series that had XP SP2 installed. The spec is almost identical bar the operating system.
Download
Extract to C:\Drivers
Goto device manager and right-click on the missing items and update driver. Browse the computer (Have disk) until you find the correct driver for the device.
Still not sure what the other devices are? Do you have a fingerprint scanner?
Nope we dont't have a fingerprint scanner (I thought it was that too)
We have already got these z3 drivers pack but still seem to have no joy with them
If you right-click on the missing devices in device manager and click on update driver. You can make microsoft do a search for the best suited driver over the internet on one of the options.
That might be a good idea as you can see if there is anything out there.
Hi Just spotted you have the same laptop running XP SP2
I've tried in vain to get the hotkeys working.
Did you manage this and can you give any pointers?
I've tried both SZ3 and SZ4 and the best I can get is the hybernate key working and part of the brightness.
I do get an error now when it installs saying it could not register VESPerform.dll because the procedure could not be found.
Any ideas ?!

Mrchear,
I had the same problem (like you can read in my last post here) and I managed to fix it, using older VAIO applications.
I uninstalled all Vaio applications and reïnstalled the older applications i downloaded here ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/OS/XPDOWNGRADE/BX4/APPLICATIONS
I installed them in the following order:
Sony Utilities
Sony Shared Library
Vaio Event Service
Setting Utility Series
And it works like a charm.
