vgn-fe31h charger problem

I went to place the plug part of the charger back into the socket part (sorry, i don't know the names) and a spark(s) came out, well more like a flash of lightning! but on a smaller scale, so is it safe to plug the charger back in? or will my house set in fire?

I have tried plugging it in a couple of times but i have seen that flash most of the times :S

Do i need to buy a new charger? is it safe?

Is your Vaio and charger turned off when you plug it in..?

If not give that a go do you see a spark..?

For peace of mind you could either take your Vaio to a local PC repairer/electrician in your area or contact Sony Vaio-Link for further advise..
