Touchpad (built-in laptop mouse) problem

I have an Ar11m laptop and as my warranty is going to expire in september i a bit worried about this problem:

For a few months the touch pad mouse stopped working properly. I could use it to move the mouse and right click but the left click button didn't work, tapping the mouse pad also didn't click either! I'm sure it was a hardware error as the problem existed after a format and install of Vista.

However, last week (randomly) it started working 100%... i can tap the mouse pad to select icons etc and the button works as well.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem was or if it'll happen again? Is it worth sending the laptop in so they can replace the *iffy* touch pad before the warrenty expires in september?

perhaps the mouse settings in the control panel were set incorrectly. maybe the tapping was set to really fast and therefore when u tried to double click it didn't work since u weren't tapping fast enough. you can also set what the left and right click buttons do there so maybe it was set not to do anything. but i see your point if it started workin randomly. it may be worth sending it in but I dont think sony will do anything as it is working now but maybe speak to them and see what they advise.

thanks for your reply. i think i will phone them. I did something very random today. While using the laptop the battery got very low (around 5%) and then the mouse when mental!! I would move the pointer up and it would go sideways or where ever it felt like going lol. It went away after 5 minutes of pluggin it in. This is a very odd problem for a laptop mouse indeed!

Hi acecooper

Go to Device Manager, double click Mouse and Other Pointing Devices, can you confirm that you have a pointing device listed..?
