Replacement DVD drive for VGN-TX1XP/B...?

Hi everyone

I have a VGN-TX1XP/B and the DVD drive has recently stopped working (it's done a good few years of service so I guess I can't complain!). As everything else seems to be fine, I'd like to replace the DVD drive but I'm not sure what the part/model number is (or even if it's possible to buy such a part any more)...can anyone help me out?

Hi Ed and welcome.

I am not sure what drive you have in your TX - it's probably a Matshita UJ832 - but these units are fairly standard these days and you may find that any slimline ODD will do.

Best to remove your old drive and then buy one with the same form factor.  The re-fitting of the external bezel may be your biggest problem so it may be an advantage to look for a Panasonic drive as they made the original Matshita OEM drives.
