I think you will have to install the Vista versions of Vaio Zone, Vaio Entertainment Platform and the TV Tuner Library (under "OTHER") to get the TV Card recognised in Media Centre.

You can download these and Vista versions of SonicStage and ClicktoDVD from VAIO-LINK DOWNLOADS FOR RS704

This is a new group of downloads and I haven't had any feedback on how easy they are to install and get to work.

Which BIOS Update are you trying to install? I can't see a Vista BIOS for your model?

Thank you for your prompt reply , I was trying to install the previous Bios upgrade , it wasn't a vista one as far as i'm aware , will try the vaio downloads you suggested , again thank you

I have upgraded the drivers and managed to install sony mpeg realtime encoder board but I can't get my tv tuner to scan for channels , is there anything I could try please ?
I also can't register my device if I try to do this I get a message saying vaio media is not installed . If I try to install this I get a message telling me it's not supported by my operating system ( Vista )

Without full instructions we are all guessing here! I certainly don't know the answer.

Have you installed EVERYTHING available on the Installation list for your model - there may be some interdependencies:

1. Install VAIO TV Tuner Library
2. Install VAIO Entertainment Platform
3. Install SonicStage
4. Install VAIO Zone
5. Install WinDVDX
6. Install WinDVD
7. Install Click to DVD

Let me know how you get on - as a last resort I may have to have a word with Sony to try and get some instructions.

I've installed everything except 1. Inst
Install WinDVDX
Install WinDVD
as I get a warning message telling me I don't have sufficient permissions to install them !

I will ask Sony for some help.

As this may take a while - have you tried:

1. Running as Administrator
2. Running in XP Compatibility Mode
3. Turning off DEP in Vista (just during installation)

To disable the DEP, you need to type the following line in command prompt as an administrator.

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

After "Operation Completed Successfully" message reboot and the DEP is turned off.

VAIO-Link asked us to pass this info on.

"- the driver for the tuner card for Vista is the same as for XP (MpegEncoder), so it can be found on the hard disk or in the preinstalled drivers-file on the website and installed manually (in Device Manager, update the driver and point it to the right directory where the preinstalled drivers are extracted and saved)
- the MCE part of Vista cannot be used to take advantage of the TV tuner, VAIO Zone will have to be used (the Vista version can be downloaded from the website)
- the installation instructions/notes for Vista (to be found here) needs to be followed carefully, and in case len112 cannot find drivers or utilities that he needs to install, he can go to the download page of the RA104 and get the relevant Vista utilities over there. This is a temp fix."

I installed the drivers and think I may be closer to getting this problem sorted but I keep getting a message that Vaio media is not installed , if I try to install it I get a message telling me it's incompatible with my operating system , Vista
