HDMI Audio Output on VGN-FZ11Z

Hello,

Does anyone know how to allow the HDMI output to send audio in Dolby Digital rather than just stereo?

I so far can only select the option of stereo, the TV is fully capable of DD via the HDMI.

Unfortunatly on the FZ11Z there is also no optical out 😞

Hi mlebroq,

I don't think it is possible to output surround sound with HDMI 1.2.

I believe this is technically possible with the upgraded HDMI 1.3 but this tends to be fitted in MediaCentre PCs only.

I do agree, it is strange that there is no optical out connection. You may need an external soundcard or a PCMCIA card LIKE THIS ONE

I`am newbie in this forum and proud new owner of FZ11S. I am able to use Dolby Digital 5.1

Try following:

Plug in the HDMI device to your computer
Go to control panel
Hardware and sound
Manage audio devices
HDMI single click
Select properties
Supported formats
Activate DTS Audio, Dolby Digital, Microsoft WMA Pro
After that it should work
