My Sony Vaio computer is a model VGC RA204.
When I try to write DVD-R I get a error or illegal disk,but with DVD+R I don't get the error.
So I want to make a update of firmware.For this model of computer on the sony vaio site write that it use Pioneer DVR-108 , but when I checked(following the site procedure) in Windows is a Sony DVD-RW D22A.
I checked the model and the model is VGC RA204 using Sony ActiveX Detection Tool and with serials too, and the result is the same VGC RA204.
So Pioneer DVR-108 or Sony DVD-RW D22A is the DVD-RW, and a update of firmware will resolve the problem(the dvd-r tested are TDK,VERBATIM,Traxdata)
Hi AndradeN and welcome.
There is an old firmware update to Version 1.10 for the DVR-108 here: -
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/info/info.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&url=Downloads/PI/F/OPD/PI...
But you will need to check exactly what drive you have. What does it say in Device Manager?
Start -> Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager
Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives.
This drive is originally made to only support the +R media type, you will have to inform VAIO-Link that the firmware on their download page does not match the one which is installed on your RA204.
