Mouse Driver Problems

Hello,

I've just bought a new plug and play mouse for my new FZ11S. I've pluged in the mouse and Vista says it needs to install drivers. BBut as far as I was aware new operating systems don't need drivers, especially for a plug and play mouse.

THe problem has lasted a few days. As I did have a bluetooth mouse, which worked fine. Ten the other day I switched on my laptop and the mouse wont work anymore. The device can be seen in my bluetooth manager, but just wont work.

Originally I thought it was a hardware problem with the mouse. But now it has affected two mouse and I'm getting a little annoyed.

Does anyone know if there is a MS or Sony mouse driver I can install that allows me to use all simple two button/scroll wheel mouse?

Thanks. Much appreciated. (Plus I dont really want to go out and buy a third mouse)

Hi Rob and welcome to the forum.

You are correct that it is rare for Windows to require third party pointing device drivers but it still needs to configure the native USB/Bluetooth drivers.

To eliminate a corrupt installation unplug all external pointing devices and then remove all mouse/pointing devices in Device Manager followed by a re-boot.

Windows will then install default drivers for the touchpad. Then reattach your USB mouse and follow the on screen instructions…
