Bad Performance Sony Vaio VGN-TX5XN

Bad Performance Sony Vaio VGN-TX5XN

I am very unsatisfied with the performance of my Sony Vaio VGN-TX5XN (Vista Business). There are a lot of processes (starting the explorer, outlook, some other applications, starting a DVD) which are very very slow compared to other notebooks (same or slower CPU, same RAM, but running with Windows XP).

Sometimes I get the message "Keine Rückmeldung" (=no response/feedback, I do not know the name of the english message) in the headline of an application box. It is the same message which you get, when an application crashes. But here this message disappeaers after a few seconds and the application goes on.

The Sony support recommended a software tool to check the hardware, but this did not show any error.

I would be thankful for any tip, what could be wrong with this machine.

Hi,
the answer is in your message "but running with Windows XP". No wonder Microsoft initiated a "downgrade to xp" program, vista eated 860megs of ram without doing anything. Particularly on a TX, bloatware can be fatal...
