3D Glasses Backward Compatibility

Does anyone know whether the new TDG-BR250 3D glasses will be backwards compatible with previous models of 3D TV, I have the 46NX713, as the previous TDG-BR100 glasses are fairly uncomfortable to wear for long periods I am hoping I can buy these glasses to use as main and relegate my BR100s to spares.

Yes absolutely, the new glasses work on 2010 3D panels - the new ones are far lighter and have a built in rechargeable battery.

Thanks

Hi

I'm new to the site so appologies if this has already been covered,

I have the same tv as you (which I think is great by the way) and purchased 4 pairs of glasses (fortune) and yes they are heavy and uncomfortable, so  I have recently found out that these new ones are coming out and I was hopeing that Sony would at least look to part exchange these old ones for the new type or at least do something. But I guess they will not if we just accept that we have to buy the new better ones at full price  and our expensive misfits will just stay as spares.

I'm a bit miffed to be honest as I think Sony should do better than that especially as I think they are at the forefront of 3d without glasses.

Do the glasses improve flicker or ghosting issues?

Hi no the glasses are the same spec as far as ghosting and flicker, this can be improved by adding a further filter, however this will darken the picture and in some lighting conditions add to the flicker.

How can I get these filters?

I tend to turn out most lights when viewing.

Thanks. My filters arrived today. I have the day off from work so I tried them out straight away. I tried them with about 3 movies which had caused me headaches or excessive eye strain. I specially selected problem scenes.

I note the instructions say that you should make sure that the glasses are horizontal. Well, I've always done this. I wonder how many of the problems caused by people using this system have come from the glasses being slightly 'off horizontal'. After all, peoples' heads do tilt and also glasses rarely sit on peoples' faces completely horizontally. Just take a look in the mirror next time you put some on.

Also, it recommends that you try adjusting the glasses brightness setting. I've tried this. I didn't like the effect it had on the 3D - it seemed to diminish it. Also I didn't see much of a difference unless I had the setting on low, whereby the picture became extremely dark.

So, having tried the filters, I have to say, I like the result. The picture didn't seem to be that much darker than without the filters, yet the picture clarity, 3D effect, and eyestrain issues were all improved in my opinion. I'm going to keep the filters on my glasses.

Why didn't you design the glasses to include the filter built-in? I think it would be a good idea.

Just for info on the thread, I've picked up the new BR250 glasses and they are a vast improvement, flicker is non existant, more comfortable and 3D looks clearer and does not give any headaches / eye strain.

Vast improvement Sony, thanks. Just wish you offered a old model trade in.....

Hi there,

Coming across this post and considering it is exactly in line with my present situation regarding the 3D Active Shutter Glasses with my Sony HX800. I would be grateful if you can send me the polarised filters so that I can also enjoy the 3D content to the full of capacity which I am sure my Sony 3D TV is capable of delivering.

Since I'll be leaving UK in a week so if possible, I will need them by that time.

Regards
