Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen, or the glue that was used to put display together.
Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

IS sony NXT SERIES IS DEFECTIVE I ALSO HAVE PROBLEM WITH MY XPERIA U camera showing purple spot
Hi
I am seeing the yellow spot (like the first picture here: http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/03/21/some-xperia-s-users-complaining-of-yellow-tint-display-issue/)
Is that spot covered by the warranty or does the whole screen have to be tinted yellow for Sony to fix it?
Has anyone in Denmark had their screen fixed? If yes, how long did it take?
Thanks..
I have the same issue and there is no sony service centre in Oman. Is there a way to get this problem solved if there is no service centre available in the country?
I have made a terrible mistake to buy this phone.
I would advise all to go for Iphone, its almost similar in price to the price of Xperia S or if you wanna stick to andriod then go for Samsung devices. They r giving best user experience and try to buy through your carrier coz they always have bulk warrenty and can easily replace your handset back if faulty just like this factory faulty Sony Xperia S.
Please also check devices from Huawei, their andriod phones are slimmer with good battery life as well as no yellow tint problem.
This is definitelty my last smart phone from Sony. Good bye Sony... u r just fooling around.. how can u sell this device in market without testing and without identifying yellow tint issue?
No it is just a spot around the bottom of the screen. It should be covered by the warranty as they know it is a fault and they should replace/fix it. I demanded a replacement though not just a fix as it keeps happening to me!
My SONY XPERIA S started showning yellow tint at higher temperatures. And since SONY had already acknowledged the issue online,i took it to the nearest service centre( Mobile technology, 45/178t sangamitra chambers,DN nagar,Link road, andheri West,T:022 26713893) ,Ticket ID :12120101269 on 01Dec,2012
But they(Bhavana Telange) rejected the display replacement on the grounds of physical damage declaring that my warranty was void. The physical damage was basically a 1mm dent on the back side of the phone.
It's not that the display is faulty because of the dent but because of a manufacturing defect on the part of SONY mobile.I fail to understand why the two scenarios was being related when SONY has already acknowledged the issue.
Its like you are trying to avoid the replacement by popping up some vague reasons which has no relation to the defect.I feel cheated buying such a high end phone and getting such a downtrodden service for it.I feel i made a mistake by purchasing a SONY product because you are not even ready to rectify the fault you made for which i have to suffer. This is not how a company of such international repute bluffing customers who believe a SONY product is of top notch quality, only to be find out that this is certainly not the case.
Hi Experts,
Because my Xperia S was purchased in another country "Dubai" and now I am in Oman, so my local warranty belongs to UAE only. Can I change my warranty location to Oman to only fix this yellow tint problem?
If I travel all the way back just to fix this issue, it will cost me so much including all expenses, that I can easily buy a new handset.
Please tell me if there is any warranty change policy when moving from one country to another?
Thanks!
I`M FROM BRAZIL AND I GOT MY PHONNE IN INDONESIA. BACK IN BRAZIL THEY REFUSE TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM.
THE YELLOW TINT IS ALL OVER THE SCREEN. I`LL KEEP TRYING ....
DUDE, I`M SO F*** UPSTE WITH SONY!!!
A number of users are reporting that Sony Mobile is refusing to repair handsets with hardware issues such as the yellow-tint display problem because their bootloader has been unlocked. Some customers who have sent in their handset to Sony have had them returned without repair due to the “illegal unlock” of their mobile. Whilst this is not the case in all regions, it does at least seem to affect th
ose sending handsets to UK and Dutch Sony repair centres.
Re-locking the bootloader before the handset is sent in doesn’t seem to make a difference either as at least one user has reported that the repair was refused as the bootloader was unlocked in the past (we imagine they could tell from the removal of the DRM keys).
As far as we see things, an unlocked bootloader should make no difference whatsoever to any hardware faults (or manufacturer defects such as the yellow tint issue) that may be present on a Sony Xperia handset. Also, this shouldn’t be seen as an ‘illegal’ unlock as most people do it through the official Sony website. By the way, this is what it says before you attempt to unlock your handset via the website:
“Please note that you may void the warranty of your phone and/or any warranty from your operator if you unlock the boot loader.”
The fact that the statement says that a customer ‘may’ void the warranty creates ambiguity. If the company policy is to flat-out refuse hardware repairs based on the unlocked bootloader then Sony needs to make this much, much clearer to users. If you have had similar issues, please let us know in the comments below. In the meantime, we have asked Sony Mobile for an official statement on this matter.
BTW, THE BATTERY IS ALSO SHIT.
