Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

I had this problem too. I took the phone back to the O2 shop and had a replacement in two days. Good service from O2 but it is shocking that Sony let such a hardware problem through QA. Would think twice about buying Sony in the future, I'm afraid.

I had Sony refer me to an authorised repair center in Queensland to fix this issue.

They got the screen up overnight, repaired the phone that day, and returned the phone to me that afternoon. 24 hours the job was done and the phone back in my hands.

The service was outstanding... until I discoverd I could not get a signal.

After contacting my service provider (who happily posted a signal booster out to me free of charge  - thanks guys) I contacted the authorised repair center and returned my phone to them.

Turns out they didn't reconnect the internal aerial. The phone was again returned in 24 hours, problem solved... or so I thought. Now the internal microphone didn't work.

I could hear callers but they couldn't hear me.  Back to the repair shop.

This time it took 5 days to order the replacement part that "failed" (their Sydney office "forgot" to send it - twice) and I got the phone back on the 6th day.  Phone calls to chase up the progress produced nothing more than frustration with the girl on the other end of the line being rude and less than helpful.  The repair guy (when I finally managed to get a hold of him on the 4th day) said something about the mic being attached to the aerial, so I suspect they buggered it somehow and didn't want to admit it.

Still, the whole process didn't come out of my pocket so alls well that ends well I guess.

I can't fault Sony for this as I already knew about the screen flaw, and the other issues were not Sony's fault.

Sony, though, might want to start looking for another repair centre......

Sony need to certify these technicians handling the repairs. If they want to improve their customers experience, they need to invest more in training to handle the different models of phones they are currently releasing into the market. Issues like yours should not have happen if the technicians take their allocated time of three working days to test the repaired handset instead of rushing it through.

Yea I suspect inexperience with this model probably paid a part in it.

I dropped off the phone myself the 3rd time and watched as they were frantically googling for instructions on where the mic was...

Got mine back from the Texas repair center today.  Not fixed because of "corrupt software" and to top it all off the phone is now damaged.  The insides of the phone on the usb side are bulging out and the rear cover will not go on.

Did a repair and factory reset so the phone is back to out of the box software and setup another RMA.  Let's see what happens this time.

My Guess is that this yellow tint issue is related to the backlit lcd sony used... Coz tint is appearing where the backlit comes from.... n why its on the edges where the leds sitauted i think for backlit... i donno.. its my guess... Mine is getting worse now seeing on top as well... I will call into sony centre here if there is one ( in april those were closed due to some issue for a while )...

That's me on to my 3rd xperia S now... It's ridiculous that this many faulty devices were distributed. At the suggestion that I would have to send my phone away for a couple of weeks I told them where to go... I was not going to be without my phone for something that is Sony's fault.

So I went back to my original Phones4U and after several phone calls I was authorised a straight swap in the shop- Why?- because faulty products have a years warranty and also Phones4U must be having the same problems from customers all over the UK and SONY must have told them it was ok to authorise replacements straight away.

My first phone had a permanent tint after 1 week and my second developed after a month and only appeared after using it for a wee while and went away when it cooled down-

So watch out!

You should get a straight swap- not a repair because it seems to me its an internal over heating problem that damages the screen, if you just get the screen repaired I think it will happen again.

Also your Sony PC Comanion 'back up and restore' your phone SUCKS... More like lets delete all your contacts.

Sort yourselves out Sony

I think it will be a good thing to continuosly use your phone for a certain period till it heats up and develop a yellow tint problem so that it gets replaced immediately rather than wait for some time before finding out that your unit is one of those that SONY claimed were part of the batch that had the same problems.

Mine is having an auto reboot issue.  Anybody else have that problem? Anyway, I've posted my concerns on this thread: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/271191#271191

Feel free to add any updates so that the other netizens will know.
