Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

Thanks, nolramlb. No, here is the chat before the the repair. I don't know how they can put in that fault as customer fault.

You have now been connected to an agent.

L: I got a xperia S the problem is, the screen got yeLow tints at the bottom and around left edge recently. I've searched online it seems this is a common issue for the earlier batches of lt26i. May I ask how I can get this phone replaced? Thanks.

Daniel: It sounds like your handset may need to be sent for repair. Which country was your handset purchased in?

L: I've already contacted my retailer. I've told it's too old to be replaced in store.

L: UK

Daniel: Okay, would you like me to provide you with details on how to send your phone for repair?

L: yes, please.

Daniel: The average turnaround time for the repair is 5-7 working days from the day the handset is received at the repair centre.

Daniel: I wiL now send you a link, please foLow this and fiL in the form provided. This is to book your handset in for repair. The link wiL be valid for 24 hours.

I see, I am just skeptical that they told you the phone died during their repair, isn't their fault? I reckon they check the device for user induced damages before they told you that its eligible for full warranty repair?

I don't know what happened to the phone at the repair centre but it sound not good. I'm suprised Sony refused to repair or replace the faulty phone even they already accepted the factory defect with the display.

yes, it's really weird. well I hope they will do a good job on repairing your device, £10 is'nt a joke when paying for something you didn't break yourself. Winking_Face

Guys, Ive also got the yellow tinting issue for about 3 months but its only now that ive eventually been able to be without a phone. Just contacted sony mobile and they told me that they might not be able to repair the device seeing as I live in the UK and the phone was purchased from Spain (I brought it from the Barcalona store when the xperia s was first released for sale). They said that I could try sending it off and they MIGHT do it, but they MIGHT not. Anyone else had issues like this? Surely if its a known problem with the handset, they should fix it anyway.

their warranty is only applicable to the country where the purchase was made. How much would they charge you if you just let them repair it on sony uk? does sending it to sony spain free of charge? one nature of this problem it's because its more of a hardware glitch , that's why authorize person are the best ones to repair those things. Hi Markus / Sony

Since we all know that the yellow tint issue came from an earlier batch of XS is there a list of SI that was generated with it? I mean mine is 1257-2761 and I can tell that there is a slight yellowish-greyish tint locatated at the bottom of the screen. I saw it when I launched the angry birds game. The openning screen is basically pure white with the "Rovio" logo. So from there you can already tell,  But I am not really sure if this is a screen protector or from another factor or the so called yellow tint issue. Is it even possible to identify if my XS is included in this batch of affected units?

I've got my Xperia S back from repair.

I've to say that in spite of a little long delay (about 2 weeks), I'm very pleased with the repair, as not only I got my screen repaired, but also as I had an issue with the Gyroscope, I got a well working Gyroscope now and I can enjoy games using it. Also Sony detected issue with battery drain and overheating, and I've to say that the phone is now much cooler when used intensively on a 3D game, then it used to be before, in fact it gets just warm but not hot, while before it was getting pretty hot.

I didn't have the chance yet to test the battery life, as according to the repair sheet, it should be improved.

So I advice anyone to get its phone repaired not only if you have the yellow tint issue, but also if your phone is getting too hot when playing 3D games or the battery is draining too quickly, or any other issue that you might think to be bearable.
