Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

if you follow this 16 page of postings, you shoud find people reporting this issue from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, UK, India, US, and others...common or not, it's all your decision to make, but all of us here are having the similar problem. And I believe that this phone is made in the same country lol

I'm not sure about that...but if the phone is made in china and all are being made in china with the same batch, you should expect this yellow-tint feature comes with it....just like the iPhone 4 antenna-gate, it's a revolutionary feature

---What if I bought an Xperia S from Taiwan (not from Sony store, but from reseller), and bring it overseas (to New Zealand) realizing the Xperia S has yellow tint (heard that the yellow tint problem starts to appear after a few days/ weeks), would  I have international warranty?

Read the warranty or ask the reseller about this.

Contact Sony Mobile in New Zealand. The only way to find the professional that you're referring to is to go to the sony service center. Reseller will only sell the device to you and anything wrong with the device you'll have to deal with the service center.

Oh ok, thanks for the help, so in other words, if you use the phone for texting, calling, email, facebook, movies, youtube and other passive applications (i,e, less intense applications) it would be unlikely to have the yellow stain appearing?

hmm does the yellow stain affect the touch screen of the phone at that place? and im wishing for someone to answer whether the stain becomes worse or not! thanks! :smileygrin:

I don't do movies and youtube either so I can't make any comment on those.

I used this phone for texting and email for the whole day.

like what i've said, the yellow tint varies from each phone. It can be either hard-to-see or not there at first and becomes clearly visible at 38 degree and some users only see it on the top of the screen and on the bottom of the screen, for my case, it's all around the edge of the screen, and everything will go back to normal when the phone cools down.

Soem part of my screen won't start showing the yellowish color on the screen until it gets hotter and some part shows it right away

Try with light blue background or light grey background, you'll see the color is uneven at some part of the screen. While on white background you'll see yellowish white spots...some people managed to put it on youtube and you can find it there

If it becomes worse, go claim the warranty and get the screen replaced, since there's no way sony can accuse you for damaging it, unless you damaged the screen externally before this happened...So far I tried to get my phone to 40 degree twice for 30 minutes by running bunch of apps, benchmark apps and charing it...it's an unpleasant sight but everything went back when the phone cooled down. My screen is still the same until today, nothing got worse, just my complaints lol

I love Sony and the service they provide. Everyday is another disappointment comes out from them. Why should I waste my time and money here? They didn't even drag their end here to answer some questions for the sake of stealing our money. This is what I got after emails back and forth with HongKong SonyMobile:

According to your mobile information, unfortunately your phone is confirmed as a non-Hong Kong official good, and the dealer-- Ebay is not our authorized retailer in Hong Kong. In another words, your phone’s warranty cannot be covered in Hong Kong. Customer Service Center does not receive overseas delivery repair case in accordance with Customer Service Center oversea delivery repair regulations as phone is non-Hong Kong official good.

If you have any further enquiry, please feel free to contact us again.Thanks again for your email.

That's what the customer service is suppose to be like, refuse as long as they can. I've had this kind of problem on the apple product too...I purchased it in the US and asked for a repair and they refused...I ended up going to some other apple store and the genius bar over there turned out to be willing to help me out. Same thing happened to my Dell laptop as well so I can't really blame sony for this at the moment but on your case you can't just go to the service center because you're not there and I don't know what information did you provide to them to identify the phone but if the phone was purchased in hong kong and sold through ebay it should be under warranty even if ebay is not the authorized retailer.

You need to be in Hong Kong in order to get it fixed...provided that your phone is purchased in Hong Kong by whoever sold you the phone

As far as I know, almost first order users are facing this Yellow tint issue.

I bought my XperiaS end of last month (26-Mar-12) & I discovered the problem since one week. I called your authorized customer support center yesterday morning (+84 1900 1525) & the answer is " wait one or two months".

Wait for what? Wait to get the phone repaired or wait just to get the answer " wait for 1-2 months more"????

For me, it is not acceptable at all. You pay for your official/authorized customer service center to repair your products or just to answer to your valuable customers that he has to wait??? Now I understand why you lost 6.4mil USD last year.

For your information, in my family, we own many your products (01 LCD, 01 LED, 03 walkmans, I myself used P990>W800>K850i>W550>XperiaS) but this is first time I really disappointed.

A lot of crazy Sony fans like me will give up next Sony products with such bad warranty service.

Obviously, the problem comes from your bad quality product as you confirmed, so cannot ask us to wait. If you don't have spare part to replace, change the new one for us, why we have to wait?

When= WHEN can I get it repaired? 01 month, 02 months or 01 year? You cannot confirmed?

Again, what I want is to get it repaired soon (not one moth) or you'd better  change a new one for me.

Anyone getting a new Sony  Xperia encountering similar problem? Sony Xperia S is now available in Canada through Sony Stores from April 17th so I'm wondering if anyone purchased the phone over there and have the same problem.....

Hope they won't be having this problem again, that's to confirm the issue has been fixed and I should be going to the service center in few weeks time while waiting for spare parts to arrive.

So far the screen is the only problem but that doesn't cause any problem to my daily usage.

Anyone experiencing any other issues? I've heard about the deformation of the bottom part but there wasn't any evidence provided in the post...
