Hello sony mobile people. Since yesterday, I have not been able to charge or even even turn on my phone! It was charging via a laptop till the battery was at about 30%, then I got a phone call, and the screen went weird and fuzzy, and since then I have not been able to turn it on. And when I try and charge it, the light goes bright red, then dims and eventually turns off after about 5-10 mins. This repeats if you leave it charged, via a PC or charger (and yes, I am using an official sony charger and cable). Can you please help because this is starting to become a nightmare. I should also mention, when I plug it into a PC or laptop, it only gets recognized for a second (while the charging red light is bright red, when it dims its like its not there so I cannot use it with my PC)
Thanks!
Hi, if the battery has been completely drained from the handset, it may not charge well via a Laptop or PC using the USB cable. I would recommend that you connect your handset to a mains charger and leave it connected without any interruption for around 2 hours. Once done, disconnect the phone and attempt to power it on. Hopefully this will allow you to boot the phone.

Same exact issue I got as well.. It's been like this for 4 days now and it's terribly frustrating because it's such a nice phone :(. I tried holding down both volumes+power button, hard reset button located behind the back plate and the PC companion won't recognize my device when i plug it into the USB. I know it's now the USB cord because it works with every other device i tested today. So what are my options?
Hello,
I am unable to turn my phone (sony xperia sp) on, I attempt to charge same and nothing, when I press the on button the red light flashes whislt I am pressing the on button but then nothing. The mobile is only a few months old.
As per forum instructions I have:
1. Removed sim, put into mains power, taken the cable out 2-3 times, nil red light, left in mains, nil red light, can still not turn on.
2. I have tried to connect to the PC companion through PC, but the PC is not recognising the mobile as it is not turned on so I can not repair phone.
3. Cable is not problem as I have tried different cables and they work in other devices.
please help

Xperia SP comes with a non removable battery. So turning off in this condition is not possible by removing battery. The volume up+power button doesnt work in Xperia SP unlike other phones. The solution is given below.
P.S. Don’t use very sharp objects as it may damage the OFF Button.
After restarting we found that our Xperia SP got back to normal temperature and everything was fine. We were able to charge our Xperia SP again, device was cool.
I also faced the same issue and got solved with the solution given in above link.Hope it will work for you also
