Hello sony mobile people. Since yesterday, I have not been able to charge or even even turn on my phone! It was charging via a laptop till the battery was at about 30%, then I got a phone call, and the screen went weird and fuzzy, and since then I have not been able to turn it on. And when I try and charge it, the light goes bright red, then dims and eventually turns off after about 5-10 mins. This repeats if you leave it charged, via a PC or charger (and yes, I am using an official sony charger and cable). Can you please help because this is starting to become a nightmare. I should also mention, when I plug it into a PC or laptop, it only gets recognized for a second (while the charging red light is bright red, when it dims its like its not there so I cannot use it with my PC)
Thanks!

If reflashing has not resolved the problem then you are really only left with contacting your local Xperia Care team to arrange assessment of your device.

Any ideas on why it does this? It happens to my SP about once a month or two. Pretty frustrating as i need it for work. It usually takes me about 3-4 days to a week to get it back on and functional.
@Eureka - There could be a number of reasons, however if you can advise us what you have been doing to get it working again this may shed some light on it.

Honestly its not really a specific method. Mainly its just unplugging and plugging it back into the PC. Usually once it happens i leave it on the outlet charger itself all night while i sleep. Then i just mess around with it plugging it into the pc/button mashing. For my specific phone, when you try to hold the yellow button on the back, its SUPPOSE to vibrate. When it goes in this "dead" mode it doesnt. So the key for me is to mess around till it vibrates. Once it does that it means it just needs to be charged and will actually hold the charge. Everytime i do get it back however, it has been factory reset. Right at this moment its in "dead mode". Been like this for a full week, and i dont think i can get it back this time unfortunatly.
TL;DR: Involves lots of button mashing/plugging in and out of pc till the red light stays on for longer then 20min. ALSO, i forgot to mention, if the light turns blue you will need to simply use the sony pc companion and repair it.
That is odd, however given the nature of the issues if you have already tried a software repair you may want to look at getting it looked at by an authorised agent.

RatheeshKS's solution above WORKS!!
@RatheeshKS wrote:Xperia SP comes with a non removable battery. So turning off in this condition is not possible by removing battery. The volume up+power button doesnt work in Xperia SP unlike other phones. The solution is given below.
- Remove the back cover of Xperia SP and look for a small yellow dot on mid bottom with “OFF” written below it. Check the image below.
- Now “Press & Hold Down the OFF Button, using a tip of pen or any other pointed object for around 10 seconds”. Phones vibrates and will be switched off automatically. Check image below.
P.S. Don’t use very sharp objects as it may damage the OFF Button.
- Now phone restarts.
After restarting we found that our Xperia SP got back to normal temperature and everything was fine. We were able to charge our Xperia SP again, device was cool.
I also faced the same issue and got solved with the solution given in above link.Hope it will work for you also
(except the link to how to turn the SP back on is wrong, you just hold down the power button on the side as usual)
My XperiaSP was completely dead, wouldn't charge, no red led even, holding down the power button for 10 secs did nothing.
However, as per RatheeshKS's post, I removed the back cover and used a ball-point pen to press down on the yellow button at the bottom (don't press too hard). After ~10 secs got three vibrations! Then held down the power button onthe side and it vibrated again and booted up. (Note battery was at 79% so phone was unplugged during these operations)
sam iam facing the same problem . and it is in one year service waranty and from sony i got a reply pay 75 kwd and we will repair it . without touching the phone they said you droped the phone.
@joysoncp - I am sorry to hear that, however for any service/warranty questions you are best to speak with your local Xperia Care team.
