Xperia SP INCREDIBLY slow after new update

I updated my SP like normal, and as soon as it booted, it is so much slower than it was before, can someone please help me to fix this, or help me return it back to the older version of android, where it was fine?

Thanks in advance.

I should never have updated to 4.3 on my Xperia SP. The phone has become totally worthless good for nothing. Everythings become such a drag on the phone. 9 out of 10 apps I open crash with the ‘not responding’ error.

Do you guys even test the stoopid update for bugs before putting it up for everyone? Or making people suffer and then them letting you know about the bugs, your way of testing!!!??? You guys are making me repent spending my hard earned money on this piece of crap. Thats the last Sony phone I am ever buying

Same here, this is  my last Sony , and i  i had  2 Sony  phones , first was Xperia M , and i had dust uder screen afer 10 days and i sold it , then this SP omg phone is so , so  bad . So next phone will be HTC , i had Evo 3d for a year and i was so happy !

Just seen this posting about a small bug fix release coming soon:

Sony Mobile will be pushing a small bug-fixing update for the Xperia SP, which will move the build number from 12.1.A.1.201 to 12.1.A.1.205. This new update has been certified by the PTCRB for all variants of the Xperia SP (C5302, C5303, C5306). Xperia SP owners continue to report a number of problems with more recent updates such as the screen flickering issue. Let’s hope the new firmware is a more stable release.

I agree with everything written. EVERY app is extreamly slow since the update. I've used the update, done a factory reset you name it.  The phone has even taken to turning itself off at times and google maps is a joke.

The screen flickers, the phone won't wake up when I press the button, camera responce is terrible and apps 'don't respond' all the time - I think that this will be the last Sony I buy, I had a Galaxy before and it was NEVER this bad. Really **bleep**ed off.

We are a three SP phone family, two Orange branded phones and one O2 brand. All of the phones have been updated to the latest firmware, but the O2 phone was always a little slower to start up and load apps than the others. Its very odd as my Orange phone has always worked as it should with no noticeable lag or issues. However my wife's Orange phone was and still is a little slower than mine, but no where near as bad as the O2 phone which is now even more slow to start and painfully laggy when compared to the Orange phones. I have a theory that it may be a combination of the stuff the Network provider put on he phone and also the slight difference in components Sony use when making the various batches of these phones, which may not be compatable with the sofware updates. It would be interesting to know if network branded phones are more prone than non network phones and perhaps we should include this information when complaining and posting on this forum.

Which is the reason so many hack their phones and install cooked ROM's. Wish I knew where to find a good root -n-ROM for the SP, build 12.1.A.1.201

I just checked today to see if there was an update for the first time since I "upgraded" on March 15, and realized I still have build number 12.1.A.0.266. My experience with this phone has been absolutely HELLISH since I installed 4.3, so I'm wondering if it's worth it to install the update from April or just wait until this new one comes out - I don't really want to go through the stress and hassle of everything on my phone changing again.

The lag has been absolutely unbearable the whole time, not to mention a lot of the changed features have been only inconvenient (I type in a lot of different languages on my phone, and being limited to three and having them all on the keyboard at once is sooo annoying for autocorrect). But lately my phone has started to lag and freeze when my alarm goes off in the morning. This makes NO sense to me, as I put on power management at night, turn off wifi, etc. so it really should not be loading anything other than the alarm. I had to put all my alarms on silent now because there is no way to turn the sound off when the screen freezes and the alarm just keeps going. Whenever I get an incoming call I have massive lag, to the point where I'm worried I won't be able to answer the phone before it goes to voicemail.

My last phone before this one was a Blackberry Bold 9900, so I was absolutely elated to finally get a proper smartphone less than a year ago. I had a Blackberry Pearl before that which I had to replace once the alarm made the phone freeze, and I had to replace the Bold when it started shutting off whenever I tried to make a call. Thought I could finally avoid both those problems...guess not!

This phone is rubbish! The new update turned this machine into a worthless piece of junk; slow, freezing when i need it the most, this is not my first Sony, but as God is my whitness, is the last.
