We value the importance of your concern and we are here to assist you.
In response to your query we would like to inform you that Jelly Bean (4.3) version has been launched for Xperia SP handset in India. Hence, we would request you to kindly wait for it untill you gets a notification regarding update.
After getting the update, we would suggest you to follow the below mentioned steps to download (Free of Cost) and install the PC Companion software:
NOTE: Please take the backup of the data from SIM card, Memory Stick, or PC before going ahead with the troubleshooting steps. Sony Mobile Communications-India holds no responsibility for any data loss.
1. Go to http://www.sonymobile.com/in/
2. Select Support
3. Choose your handset from the drop down list
4. Select "View All Software Updates"
5. Download for PC
6. Check the requirements and then "Download PC Companion"
Once you have installed the Sony PC Companion you will need to launch it. Once it opens connect your phone to your PC in Media Transfer mode or mount the device and then go into Support Zone > Phone Software Update.
If you are unable to perform the software update on your PC as you do not have the requirements then you may be able to perform this from the handset itself by performing an 'Over the Air' update. This can be done by following the steps below:
1. Open the Menu
2. Select Settings
3. Scroll down to About Phone
4. Tap on Software Update > Update Now
We would suggest you to connect through Wi-Fi, as this is a more secure connection. Please also ensure that your device is fully charged, before updating.
