Xperia ray ST18i contacts drains my battery a lot

Hi,

I am using Xperia ray since February 2012. About one year I had no problems. But then some problems started to appear, such as, sometimes the mobile phone cannot read the SD card and the battery drops from 40% suddenly to flat. Now my main question is that "Contacts" drains my battery a lot (right now 33%). How can fix it? Yes, I am using synchronization of my contacts with my gmail account. If I turn the sync off, will the problem be solved? Please, help me.

Turn off syncing and only turn it on/sync when you add new contacts, same goes for facebook, twitter, etc
