Xperia Miro - Unable to hear other party talking

I have been using the Xperia Miro for a few months now and everything works very well. Just today, I am no longer able to hear anything via the phone's ear speaker (the one above the Sony logo at the front). When I make a call, i am unable to hear the other side. But I can if I switch to speaker phone (via the back speakers). So now I have to use the speakerphones in order to hear my calls. Any help appreciated.

Can you hear anything when plugging in headset to your phone?

Restart your phone and try again. If problem remains we recommend you to repair the phone software:

You can download Sony PC companion via this link:

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

Start PC companion, start "Support Zone", start "Update phone software" and click on "Repair".

Let me know if you still have problems with the speaker.

Just to add some details, not sure if relevant or whether it was the contributing factor.

1. Phone did ran out of battery.

2. Activated the Viber application

As no calls were made today, these are the only two events that occur. Phone was working well yesterday.

Hey, thanks for the reply. My phone works well now. Below are the details

Yes, I can hear when i insert the headset to the phone. The loudspeaker at the back works as well. Only the front speaker doesnt work.

Here is what I've done:

1.  Restarted the phone - Didn't solve it

2.  Cleared the settings of the phone - Didn't solve it

So I decided to download the software from Sony and reinstall it on my phone. (I guess this is more or less the same as factory reset) This solved the problem.

Probably a small configuration by Viber tweaked the settings of the front speaker.

But anyways, It is all well now.

i bought sony xperia miro 2 days before.. and i just cannot hear :@ all of this started yesterday, I could hear music and anything, the only problem was when somebody would call me and I couldn't hear them unless I put on my speaker. Anyways, I thought I'd look into it the next day but, today, I can't hear anything at all.. help please

how to download the software? im afraid it will harm my phone as i have bought it two days before.. im beginner can u tell me step by step procedure?
