Successor for Xperia active (with ANT+ Support)?

Hi,

unfortunately XPERIA active is not available for sale any more.

Which of the current XPERIA phones is comparable to 'active'?

I'd like it:

  • small
  • robust
  • with ANT+ support
  • nice-to-have: outdoor (water resistent)

Seems like Sony doesn't want ANT+ any longer!?

ANT+ support is the reason why I bought 'neo', my brother 'active' and my wife also 'active'.

I know a lot of mountain-bikers (using Garmin *) who want to track their trips with their mobile device.

XPERIA S is too big and is not handy.

XPERIA ion is even bigger!

@Sony,

make us happy again and relaunch some kind of 'active'. We love it!

The spec on the link above don't mention ANT+, but I have that model and it has the ANT+.

I think Acro S has ant+.

But just you said, I wish they would make Xperia Active 2..  that would be sweet,

I don't need ANT+, so I got the Xperia V as a successor.

But it is not a good compromise. The V is too big and too fragile.

I think if Sony simply threw in more internal memory, the other features of the Xperia active still would be very competitive, and it would be a really compelling offer.

Currently we don't have any product as small as active with ANT+. Later models with ANT+ are Xperia s, sl, acro s and ion. Of these only acro s is IP-classed.

The acro S would be nice, but it's missing the pressure sensor that the Active has.

It's too bad that Sony decided to give up this market segment, I would have upgraded already if the Acro S had the missing sensor.

The Active was a big differentiator for Sony (ANT+, waterproofing, pressure sensor), but at this time it's a bit old and there is no upmarket replacement (and not even planned as the Sony support guys reported on this forum). Once there is no differentiation, people will also look at other brands and Sony will lose costumers like me who promoted the Active.

Closest successor (waterproof, scratch resistant glass) sans ANT+ would be Xperia Z I guess..but it's kinda bulky

Hi Rickard - just to confirm, you're saying that Acro-S is IP classified and has ANT+?

Oh yeah it does eh - just checked out the specs page..Nice! Dual cam, 12.1mp rear cam.

Can you please convey to the powers that be in Sony that we need a new model based on the Active though! Sure Xperia Z is IP rated..but it has no ANT+ and it is really, really, really bulky! Acro-S is nice, mid sized but still a bit longish. What we outdoor folks need is a small to medium sized Android phone that has ANT+, waterproof, shockproof, scratch resistant glass and a decent battery to boot..that would really be heaven sent as there's aren't many phones that fit this bracket.

No pressure sensor means no barometer@altitude reading when using sports apps is that correct?
