Hi, I had the exact same problem, I just ran a test under settings-about phone-diagnostics-test device-ear proximity, everything went fine. The next time I used the phone the issue just disapear. I don't know why but it works for me

In my sp proximity sensor starts to work after 5 - 10 minutes of using the phone (while the screen). I do not have foil, repair by sony pc companion does not help. I do not know what to do, send it for repair? Probably not fix it because they say it works.
(Sorry for the mistakes, google translator :))

I tried booting my phone up in SAFE MODE ! it didn't work. I still have the proximity sensor problem and even i dn't hear any sound DURING my calls from the ear piece. The loud speaker seems to be working fine. Any suggestions ! :'( I saved up around 9 months to buy this phone. Extremely Disheartened . . . :'(

I'm sorry to hear that.

If it doesn't work in safe mode and after a software repair in PC Companion i'm afraid it sounds like a hardware isse. I recommend that you contact a service location or local Sony Xperia support (http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/) for assistance.
