My Ray battery always speed to zero after reaches 20%. Is my phone faulty?

My Ray battery always speed to zero after reaches 20% mark. When it reaches 20% the phone will shut down itself. It's like the battery power runs out to 0% in few seconds after reaches 20%. Is there anything wrong with my phone?

take out the battery and reinsert it and charge it

observe its behaviour and it won't happen again

I have a xperia j and the same problem..After reinserting the battery should i turn my phone on and charge it? Or leave it turned off and charge it till green led light shows its fully charged? Help please
