How to Root Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman (WT19i)

im using sony ericsson live with waalkman, some softwares and games ask for root my ROM. i have no idea what is that, i have tried to root my rom by installing softwares but it doesn't work. i used Easy Rooting Toolkit (V1.0), i also followd the instructions before rooting but nothing works.

you don't need an antivirus, it just slows down your phone and creates a lot of issues with other apps and connectivity issues.

HI, I had recently brought a Sony Live with Walkman, this is my first smartphone. I heard a lot for rooting the Androied. But befiore going for this, I want some suggestion from all of you on these points :

1. Is rooting benificial for me?
2. As I read that rooting will void my warrenty, so is there any way to make me device in original condition and I can get warrenty on that??? If yes then how I can do in case.
3. After rooting how I can update my OS to latest version of Androied?

I am very thnanksful for your suggestion and help.

if you don't know anything about rooting avoid it, rooting grants you extra permisions so you can delete preloaded apps, but it also grant you permisions to delete other sensitive data that could damage your phone and then your warranty will be gone, your warranty should be ok if you root BUT once you use this permision you could void your warranty and it also depends on which country. so to give you an easier answer "rooting could void your warranty"

By the way, rooting won't void your warranty - from personal experience...:smileycool:

Usually, messing with the bootloader and/or hardware are the things that get your warranty void(ed)...

I am living in India, and my present firmware is 4.0.2.A.0.62.

Now what you suggest? I want to get more free space from my mobile, as there are lot of preinstalled apllication that I am not using. I am just little bit feared about warrenty, but I want to go for rooting.

uliwooly says that it's possible to root ICS on Live with Walkman (when it'll be released).

also it's possible to downgrade the kernel (to 4.0.2.A.0.58 or something similar) and then root the phone.

Anyway, if you want help with this, you better ak for help from either uliwooly or Nabeel...

Its not yet known that when will Sony float official ICS update for WT19i. But one can try this amazing ICS ROM: http://www.androidust.com/ics-aosp-rom-for-live-with-walkman-wt19i/.This is a pure AOSP ROM and thus there are some benefits and a few limitations.

try to upate (OTA) twice failed!

after one click google search

i have the impresion that rooted devices can't be updated (OTA)

i use to have 0.62

downgrade it 0.58 so i can root my device

am trying to update to 0.62 so i can recive the ICS update from SONY (hopefully this lifetime)

now , can't update to 0.62  OTA

can't upate through pc companion coz i'll loss my root

kind of dilemma
