FATAL Ray Problem After ICS 4.0.4 update

i don't know how to explain this... but

i had .42

then .62

then 4.0.3

all with the usual problems/bugs everone had...

but... after 4.0.4 update, a big problem appeared...

whenever the screen is ON, and i leave it idle till the light fades, then it goes OFF.. right?
if i press ANY key instantly after it goes OFF, it goes back ON

if i am late 1-2 seconds, it turns back ON to a BLANK BLACK screen (like the one when you turn the phone ON and there's no logo yet)

no whatever i do it stays BLACK...

if i press the above lockscreen button, it turns OFF, i press again, BLACK again...

i have only ONE SOLUTION
leave the phone for 30 seconds minimum...

then when i press any key, it gives me the lockscreen screen...

now what sucks even more...

i tird reverting back to .42

and the problem persists ... so i guess 4.0.4 caused some hardware screen issue !!!

hey i have the same problem of black screen while unlocking with power button!!!r u sure that the problem is with hardware ?????becoz i have given it to the service centre.

ohh man this is bad i have the same problem and the funny is i have already give my phone to service centre to be fixed but when they give my phone back to me and i do a backup of my data with go back up then the screen PERFECTLY goes blank again in about a minute after i do a back up !!!!

OMG fells like i wanna throw away this phone!!!!!!! wasting my time to serch for a way to fix it..

and MY FRIEND have the same PHONE like me and SAME PROBLEM !!!!!!

EPIC FAIL !!!!!

they have also replaced the motherboard of my ray for the same problem, but nothing changes ... i am really annoyed by this situation.

Even  I have the same problem and got tto know that there are few other threads describing the same problem,this is so wrong by sony.The frustration because of this problem is so..!!!!

I dont have much time I ll be giving the phone to service center this wednesday or thursday (Im from India) and will update about the service they will give .
Btw drjosephedward how many days did they take to replace the hardware??

Cause I dont have any good backup phone.
I think this problem is persistant in most of the XPeria ray phones with 4.0.4 ,I saw it even on gsmarena.com .
I request Sony to take this problem seriously and please make sure atleast the service centers are informed about this proble and make sure the  problem is solved as quickly as possible .

just a doubt ,if it was an hardware problem ,how come it never happened with Gingerbread

took them 3 days to try to tell me it's a software problem (which they failed & took the phone back)
and another 7 days to replace the phone (they had to send it to the MAIN service center in Alexandria,EG )

it IS a hardware issue... how it's linked or triggered by ICS is really unclear to me, but believe me, if it was a software issue, i would have figured it out...

plus, a few people had this on GB... and EVERYONE got it fixed by HARDWARE REPAIR, not some firmware repair...

just my opinion...

yea ur right its a hardware problem...they replaced a part on motherboard!!!!they told its a rare problem which happens at the time of manufacturing the phone!!!!my mobile took nearly 20 days to repair!!!
