Hi.
I have a problem with my xperia L. Device memory gets full with normal usage after a couple of weeks. After it gets full, the phone is almost impossible to use; album doesn't work, new updates will not install, phone resets itself, cannot install new programs.. ETC. The only way out is, in my opinion, to make a "factory reset". But this is not how it should go with a mobile phone..
I am completely sure that this is somekind of a software bug, because my work mate is having exactly same symptoms with his phone and some other users have complained this in this forum with other words. For example:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/144006
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/141173
Somebody explained that this is because the album app is somehow broken, other explanation would be that the phone doesn't know how to refresh the temp files...
Now I have some questions for Sony:
1. Do you recognize this problem?
2. How are you going to tackle it and what is the schedule?
3. Also, when tackling this problem, will you repair the camera software too?
Then, I would like to know if there are other users having the same problem.. By the way, the system version is 15.0.A.1.31

I bought the phone two weeks ago I too have same problem...it started after connecting usb to.computer...
my device show's it's full but on checking I found that my storage is not full..
I couldn't install any apps or update on my apps..
Sony really **bleep**...
It is possible that you're right when you say that the problem starts when you connect your phone to the PC. The first month using the phone I did not have any problem. I do not remember the exact dates, but it is possible that the problem started after connecting the phone to the PC.
This may be the explanation of why some people say they do not have memory problems, maybe have not yet connected to the PC.
We have this problem without connecting the phone to a PC with USB.
Come on Sony, less "make.believe" and more make.it.work. Maybe it's a good idea to do a couple of resets by handing it in to the service center and then get your money back when it fails for the third time. If you do it before they make a fix (if they manage, that is) you'll at least be free from this phone...
Well, I'm facing this problem too.
I reset my phone a couple weeks ago and the problem disappeared.
But since now, I am facing the same problem again.
It went well for weeks, but then it slowly became worse.
I installed a game and a app, and I even removed some pre-installed apps but something still eats my device memory.
This is very annoying and Sony has to come with a solution.
I can't install any app anymore, even if I remove some apps or clean my cache or whatever.
UPDATE
I suggested deleting the LOST.DIR and it was working perfectly. That was until I work up the next morning to find myself back at square one. Here is what I gather from my research. One of the ways that LOST.DIR is created is when you unplug your device from your computer without first ejecting the device. It tends to take up 25MB of space.
In my situation, my flashcard program(which had an audio portion) was eating up 25-30MB worth of memory for each card that I study. I rooted my device and checked the data/core folder and found a bunch of files named "audiocommand.###" where ### is a series of 3-4 digits. Each file was about 30MB. I would study from my flashcard program and every time I did, I would go back to that folder to find a new audiocomand.### file (about 30MB).
Now, I just have to delete the contents of the folder when necessary. But, you have to root your phone!
I can finally wake up in the morning without having to do a factory reset on my phone. It took 10 seconds to root my phone!
MOCHI, wy did you not just stop the WALKMAN APP ??
I'm pretty sure that there is no actual single solution without modifying the system code. Stopping walkman didn't work for everyone so there must be plenty of apps which cause the memory to run out.
I've posted a warning of this product in Sony Mobiles Facebook page. Maybe you guys should do the same, just the get Sonys attention? I also contacted customer advisor for advice. They should get back to me on few days.
Just got an email from Sony considering the problem. They are aware of the problem and it's sent to IT department for investigation. So no repairs available... Still they ask to get phones for "service". I'm stunned.
Actually that LOST.DIR points to existence of some problems:

which is a bit alarming.
Hey Guys i started my device in Safe mode.. and the memory is not leaking it has been stable for over 12 hrs now....whether u uninstall few apps or not...it shows proper memory calculation and that too without SD card that is....But using it safe mode is boring as it doesn't allow us to add the third party apps....Hence i guess will have to do a factory reset again....Anyone else tried to run in safe mode...please do let me know...
