hi everybody i have a dvp-f250 dvd player and was wondering if it can be updated to play blu-ray or will ihave to buy a new unit..

Hi - unfortunately not - its a totally different type of laser used for Blu-ray discs. Blu-ray players are pretty cheap now and will improve the quality of your DVDs also, so worth getting checking out for sure.
