Sony DCR-TRV20E to iMac

Pease could someone tell me the best way to get my video from my DCR-TRV20E to my iMac? What cables do I need?

Hi scoxhead, welcome to the Sony Forums :slight_smile:

You need a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable connected to the DV OUT port on your camera. The plugs look like this: http://www.yycomputer.net/products/cable/firewire4-6.jpg

Just plug it in, launch iMovie on the Mac, power the camera up and click the camera icon (usually bottom left of the iMovie window) to see your movie clips.

Mike, Thanks for the response. I do have a cable that looks exactly like that which I used with my previous windows computer but my iMac does not appear to have a slot that fits this cable.

Sorry, I missed that it was an iMac you were asking about. Recent iMacs only have the squarer 9-pin FW800 port. The cable you need is this one:
