Sony KD55XE9005 Internet connection drop-outs

Hello,
since I have purchased this TV I have been having problems with the internet connection. I have a wired connection and every day I need to set up the wired connection on the TV to connect to the internet. I have tried using the wifi, which is unfortunately not as fast as the wired connection, but the problem persisted. The previous TV from Sony did not have this kind of problem. I have tried resseting router, yet nothing happened. Once the connection is set up, it works as it should, but I am not really keen on doing the same process every day.

Hi batee5,

I have tried all the provided possible solutions to my problem and I waited some time, to be sure that the problem will not reappear and so far I could say that the problem has been solved. I cannot pin-point specific solution, for I have tried all of which I have been provided.

There are a few things you can try to resolve this but you can start with making sure your TV is running the latest firmware version. You can use this link to check if your TV is up to date or not.

 

You can also use Sony's online troubleshooting guide available on this link. It would walk you step by step on what you need to try.

the firmware is the latest one. The troubleshooting guide is good for not being able to connect to the internet (checking modem, router, static/dynamic adress), but the thing is, I do not have problem with the connection itself. Once connected, it stays connected for the time of using the TV or 24h or so (I do not watch TV every day). As I have mentioned it is more of a comfortability issue, needing to set up the connection almost every day after turning the TV on. Once the connection is set up, there are no more issues. I simply do not want to go through the process so often. I was wondering whether I am the only one (which is unprobable). There are no black outs, the router and modem do not have any kind of power-efficiency mode and there are no internet drop-out in other devices connected to the network.

Hi Tomas_Pazourek,

 

If the connection drops out and you need to re-establish it every time you turn on the TV to use it even when connected via a LAN cable, I'd recommend trying a factory reset on your TV (you'll find instructions here). If the issue persists, I'd recommend having it inspected a Sony service centre. You can locate your nearest one here.

 

If the same issue happens but via Wi-Fi, it could be related to some settings on your router like the channel it operates on and whether it's fixed or not. You'll find some helpful information on this link.

I will try the factory reset. Since I am living in the Czech Republic the map unfortunately doesn't work for the country. I will definitely try it via the Wi-Fi and see what happens.

This keeps happening to me!    I bought new TV in May and had no problem setting it up and all the catch-up Apps worked.  However, during the last few weeks when I go to any catch-up App (BBC, ITV, C4) it sais no connection!   I have gone through the installation process via factory settings.   THEN..... each time I want to use the App I have to type in my ID and acknowledge it via email etc..... all this takes time.  I never had problems with previous Sony TV.  I am using Wi-Fi and have no trouble with other devices.  Clearly it seems a problem with the TV.
