So you were able to reboot into safe mode?

You could see Safe mode in the lower left corner?

You also tried to start up without SD and SIM in the phone?

Then probably there is a self installed app interfering or something in the update went wrong.

Try this:

Connect your device with computer through USB

When starting up you will see a notice asking you if connection to computer is OK.

When you got past that point then copy DCIM directory to your PC (to save your photo's)

Another thing to try is Xperia Companion to backup the contents of your phone. (if it works)

When all else fails:

Power off phone, start Xperia Companion, do software repair.

On first screen tick: my device cannot be detected or started, or is a SmartWatch 3

There is a possiility that the update wasn't successfull.

Prepare:

  • Backup contents
  • Backup photos
  • Create separate backups from within your chat apps like Signal, WhatsApp etc.
  • Charge battery > 80%
  • Open the Support App on your device and learn how to do a software repair. (which is difficult when it keeps restarting)

Repair the software using Xperia Companion.

General tip: Explore the Support app on your device, there's a wealth of information inside.

You're right, didn't realise that.

Try this.

Start the phone by pushing power, then hold vol-down and keep pressing.

The phone will start in safe mode.

Maybe that offers a remedy to your problems as well.

Let me hear how that went.

Mine does something similar when I chech for Google Play system updates. Seems like there is a bug there.

Edit now mine is restarting too since I just received the Dec 1 Play updated.
