App Badge counters Xperia 1/Android 10 broken?

Hi, 

I recently exchanged XZ2 for 1, and while XZ2 with Android 10 had badge counters on all programs like Telegram, WhatsApp and even Sony native, Xperia 1 has just blue dot. Weird. Has anyone noticed this and how to fix?

I'm looking at mine right now, Android 10, Xperia 1, and I've got badge counter icon telling me I have 2 texts and 1 whatsapp messages to read, So I think you're wrong.

Weird. Do you have custom launcher? I cannot find even settings for badges in the app notifications,like it was for XZ2...

Ah I think I know what you mean...

The dots are standard on Android now..I did get them, but I have Messages and Whatsapp in a folder, and I get bubbles with numbers on, where if I open them, Whatsapp is just a bubble, meaning a notification, and Messages is a number.

But back out the folder, and Whatsapp turns into a number, with no messages unread in Messages.

Still doesn't work for me. It is upsetting that we will have only those dots. Seems like a large downgrade from Android 9
