So I recently got a new Z5 Compact and everything seems to be going well until I watch video content seemingly from any source. The audio is not in sync with the video. There seems to be a latency issue as the audio is processed through the phone or something. This is the case while using wired headphones and also when using the speakers. I estimate a 100-200ms lag in time between the audio and video which is bearable, but very annoying at best (not acceptable IMO for a premium phone).. It is lagging on Netflix, Youtube, and even when I playback a video I just recorded, there is the same issue. I first upgraded to 7.0 Nougat then to 7.1.1 with the same problems. I didn't use it much on 5.1.1 so I cannot say if the issue was there too. I have played around with different development options in the settings (force GPU rendering etc...) with no luck.
I just would like to confirm if anyone else is experiencing this issue with the Z5C and on which android version. It may not be noticeable to some people but just have a close look and you'll notice that it is off. Any help is much appreciated.
I don't stream but I use VLC, because it lets you change timing for the channels..
I used it last night to play my legitimate copy of Game of Thrones via MHL

Yeah, I did notice VLC has this option which is good, though I wonder why this is happeneing in the first place... NeoBeum, are you saying that you experience lag when playing the default app and youtube as well? I'm trying to see if this issue is with all Z5 Compact phones or just mine. Could you possibly test youtube for me? It's easiest to notice watching people speak. Thanks!
