I have a Sony z5 and after the newest update, my phone decides to die on me at 62-70% why is this and what do I need to do???

Based on the info you have supplied it sounds to me like the update may not have installed correctly, in this case I suggest the following.

1. Backup the handset using Xperia Companion

2. Repair the handset software using Xperia Companion.
