Hi,
I've dropped my phone and broken my screen. Is there any way to transfer files before I send it to be repaired? I saw in similar posts mention of an OTG adapter. Please can someone tell me what this is and is there's any other way?
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks

That's odd, what you can try is to swap from MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) in the Select USB Configuration menu to Charging, then swap back to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Disconnect the transfer cable and connect your device to your computer again.
If its still not selecting the right mode, restart the device and then try again.
Hi @GarethJB,
Welcome to the community.
I'm sorry to hear this. You can still navigate in your device when the touch screen is broken using a OTG adapter and a USB mouse. My colleague @Jonas has a great guide over at the community board on how to do so, you will find it through the following link.
To have your phone sent in to an authorized service center for repair, I suggest you get in contact with your Local support team.
Let me know how it works out!
Hi!
Thanks for your message. I've got a OTG adapter today and tried the procedure written by @Jonas, but I still can't backup the files.
When I connect the phone switched on to a Windows 10 PC a window pops up immediately on the phone screen prompting me to decide how to use the USB. It gives me three options; charge, transfer files or use device as MIDI. I can see the phone in Windows Explorer, but it says the device is empty. I know from past experience I must choose transfer files before the phone contents are visible in Windows Explorer.
When I connect the phone switched off and I start the phone no such window appears on the phone and I can see the phone in Windows Explorer, but in exactly the same way Windows Explorer shows the device as being empty.
I have restarted the phone many times and made sure its settings are as instructed in @Jonas procedure. Please can you offer any further advice?
Kind regards,
Gareth
