Hi,
I've bought Bose QC20 In-Ear noice cancelling Headphones. They are android compatible, but it seems sony have changed something, because the remote control buttons didn't work correctly.
+ increase the volume --> That's OK
- decrease the volume --> That's OK
But the Answer Call/Play Pause, skiptrack button --> increase the volume. Fail. What the **bleep** happens here? I've tried it with several other Phones from my colleagues (Sony z2, LG G2, Samsung Galaxy S4) all are working correct. Only the z3 and z3 compact seems to make this strange control.
Any suggestons? I don't wan't to use other headphones, because they bose are very very good. I travel a lot by plane, and the noise cancelling function is awesome. (Also better than the one from sony)
Regards,
Roemsi
Solved! Go to Solution.
I suspect they may be.
See http://en-us.sennheiser.com/mm-30g for example:
"In-ear headset for Samsung Galaxy devices"
Not sure if it's possible to have support for both solutions but i will of course forward that as feedback.
Currently, this button needs to be connected to GND to work with our phones.
Hey!
It seems to be the same case with Xperia Z5 and Marshall Major 2 headset (onebutton remote).
Pressing the only button will only increase volume and i get the same "code=24" as someone previously mentioned.
Surprisingly my gf's Marshall Mode Eq headset worked fine. Mic, onebutton control (double- and triple-click).
KeyEvent Display-app gives me "code=79" so i assume that is what i'm supposed to have when i have a working accessory in my hands.
Any 3.5mm male-male inline mic/remote-cables available that would work with Xperia Z5?
Sorry to say this but if i would have know this headphone compatibility issue with Sony, i would have a differend brand phone...
I am currently experiencing the same issue with Z3C(single button remote increases volume when pressed instead of pause/play). I have the Coloud Pop Transitions. Does this mean that we have a limited choice of headphones to choose from to be compatible with the phone? Is this a hardware issue or can it be resolved by an upgrade?
Hello,
I had exactly the same issue with my Z3C and a Sennheiser CX 5.00G. I sent it back to Amazon because I bought this new headset only to get a remote. Ant it was supposed to be optimized for Android.
First Android device after an Iphone, first disapointment.
There is very little info about heaset remote compatibility and Android phones, that's really a shame.
After some research I really have the impression you have to buy a Sony headset or have no remote at all. Great choice!
And you read Apple is "closed" (don't know how to say that)...
Don't think my next phone will be a Sony if there is no solution to this problem.
Hello!
I have a Z3C and have just bought a set of QC20.
I was really impressed by the noize cancellation capability of this headset, but somewhat dissapointed about the lack of compatibility to "general" Android devices such as the Z3.
I have a headset of another brand that contains an iOS/Android switch on the control unit that works perfectly with my Z3C.
But thanks to this thread I think I can come around the problem with the line control compatibility.
Simplified info on Android requirements is found here.
A solution that I have tried with success is an "Audio Extension Cable w/Line control and Mic" like this one found on ebay.
"(...)After some research I really have the impression you have to buy a Sony headset or have no remote at all. Great choice!(...)"
Nope. Just bought an STH30 set (becouse the older 3-key samsung headset did work exactly like bose, sennheiser and otheres mensioned here) and ... works just the same. The third button turns the volume up, doesn't pick up or end calls, doesn't do anything the SmartKey app would make it to. The only thing guys from sony could advise was to restart the phone and reinstall android.
Oh, and what a supprise, it did NOT help!
There is some problem with theese phones, but sony just doesn't care.
