Z3 spontaneous crack back glass

I have been very lucky with my previous Xperia Z and never had any of the famous problems.

Now though my new Z3 had a spontaneous crack in the rear glass. It didn't drop and is just went crack. I know sony did replace Z screens and backs in warranty.

Is this a problem on the Z3 too? Who do i contact?

If you wanna check whether it's waterproof or not without putting it in water, go to service settings (type, *#*#7378423#*#* in diallar) then service tests and find the pressure sensor in that list!

Make sure all the flaps are closed properly and press the screen from middle! If the pressure rises slightly (about 4-8 mb), your phone is waterproof! Usually this type of cracks won't affect your waterproofing!

And by the way, I think this cracks are happening because of over heating! 2 other friends of mine bought Z2s with me and both of them have got this cracks! Both of them use the phones in a way it over heats a lot! And luckily I'm still safe! And I have to say, this glass is a very good and a tough glass! I have dropped my phone more than 20 times, but not even a single scratch is visible, once I dropped it from 2 floors above right into a tiled floor, but still it is fine!

The problem is it cannot bear the internal pressure exerted on it by itself when it tries to expand as a result of heating!

I've had my phone for about 5 months now and I haven't had a problem with the glass cracking until recently when a crack appeared on the back of my phone after a hike. I didn't drop my phone at anything during the hike so I don't know how the crack appeared at all. I was using my phone to track my heart rate monitor so I'm thinking it could have been over heating as Bluetooth and location were on for a long hike up a mountain. Plus it was quite chilly on the mountain. Should I send it in to get evaluated? Because I have a feeling they might say it was caused by user negligence.IMG_4315.JPG

This morning my 3rd OEM back glass broke. Definitely didn't fall, it was next to me playing playing YouTube video. It was flat on the table next to me and it got very hot. Getting a bit tyred of everytime dishing out to replace. No use brining it to Sony as they just say it fell. Fed up. After a lifetime of Sony products I think this might be my last Sony phone

Hi ,
I had Sony Z3, and I thought it is the best mobile in the market , but unfortunately I was wrong , because my mobile's back glass had broken without a reasonable reason, I was sit down then my mobile was dropped by accident, I can not imagine sony z3 is not has unbreakable glass . I can not Imagine Sony create excellent mobile with excellent features but with breakable glass , I wrote that note because that will be last time to buy sony mobile and I will not recommend any one to buy sony mobile especially mobile cover by glass (back & front). I was respect sony mobiles but now I am not.

Sorry about your phone but you already explained the reasonable reason."You dropped it.".phones do not have unbreakable glass. So drop any phone and there is a good chance some part of it will get damaged

Sorry you are not right , the broken glass is the back glass not the front , and there is no reasnable reason behind that, the back glass is the backbone for mobile and you must make it bear heavy duty especially some small hits , not to tell me you dropped it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I drpoed it not smash it . and if sony made soft mobile like that  , it is useless to made it waterproof because it will be broken very soon and this feature will be useless.

let's keep this discussion about glass that brakes without dropping your phone. It seems like due to heat the back glass can break spontanious.

As a designer who has some experiance designing mobile phones for Nokia and LG I agree with you though but that goes for all phones. They are designed to look good not to last and be robust. Glass can always brake when dropped unless you add a lot of material to imrove the strength of the frame and the market/consumers won't accept that.
