z3 indicating a text message, even tho there isn't any new

I have an issue that my default (standard) text message application shows it's 1 unread text message, but there isnt. This happened after i had a failure to download a MMS message. I have deleted the threads that beholds the mms's, but that didn't help much

I have done soft reset too, no help. Even tried to download other sms app, and sat that to default no luck there either.

But i found something on Samsung support about badge provider, but i cant find that settings in my settings - application - all list.

any other had issues like this, or even better know how i can remove the 1 overlay on the default app, so i dont get any more annoyed

cheers for help

A little update.

I might have found the solution now.

I actually installed a third parity sms app to see if i could find out some more regarding this issue. I installed Go SMS from the market. In there i found the "phantom" message, a MMS from an unknown sender with an error code 4503 i think. I deleted it in there.

Went into settings - application - all - messages and removed all data.

rebootet phone, turned the default sms application back to standard. And the phantom notification is gone. I have been recieving more sms after this and now it appears to be correct.

Hi,

You can always try to clear data for Messaging via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Messaging > Clear data.

Otherwise, I suggest that you clear data for "Xperia Home" via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Xperia Home > Clear data. Note that, when you clear data for Xperia Home, your home screen/widgets e.g will be reset to default.

HI ,

Suggest you to perform a backup first of your text sms before clear data. It will clear the sms content.

restore again after clear data to see if that resolve.

Your text messages will not be removed by clearing data for the messaging application. This will only clear data for the application itself and not the content. But of course, you can always perform a backup of your contet via the preinstalled Backup & restore application.

Cheers guys, that did the trick. SMS data was _not_ removed during that force close and remove data.

But i made a backup just in case.

Thanks for all help.

Did you also try to clear data for Xperia Home as I mentioned in my previous post? If not, I suggest that you give that a try to see if it can help.

Hi again.

Yes i have done both methods, both force closed messages and xperia home, clear data.

When i enter home screen, it's gone. But when i recive a new text message it wil say 2 new messages, but its only 1.. when its read the 1 still appears over the messages icon.

I have also tried to remove all text messages on the phone, and rebooted + cleared data. Upon reboot, the 1 above the messenger icon is still there.

Im clueless.
