Hi all,
My phone turned off by itself and won't turn on again. Occasionally if i try to reset it it flashes the red light indicating low battery. My phone charger works no problem and when i plug it in the red light stays on for about 15 minutes but that is it. It's been a few days and it won't turn on. I have already had a similar problem where it turned off for good but the red light didnt flash and I sent it away to Sony for repair however they never actually told me what was wrong.....I presume a dud battery.
Does anyone have any advice? My phone always had the latest updates and I am now out of warranty and if I can fix it myself it would be a lot cheaper!!
Thank you
Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
First please try holding both the power and volume up buttons for a few seconds to force the handset to reboot. If you have no luck with this then please try running a software repair:
1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

I have had my M2 for under a month and it was working perfectly until yesterday afternoon, when I took it out of it's wallet. It immediately shut down and wouldn't restart. Plugged in original USB cable to charge in case the battery had run out and the red light flashed on and off, the big white battery logo similarly flashed on the screen. After an hour of this it still wouldn't switch on, so plugged it in to the original charger. Left that for an hour or so...sadly still no charge or restartt.
Looked for answers on this forum which suggested resetting by inserting a small sharp object into the little hole next to the SD and SIM card slot. Used straightened paper clip, felt the click, but nothing still. Eventually went through all the steps of updating the software via Sony PC Companion which I had successfully previously installed. Alas, Sony PC Companion could detect no phone...still, I went through all the steps up until where it said that the final update could only take place safely if I had at least 80% battery. I have no battery power whatsoever and have been wandering around forums aimlessly looking for an answer that nobody seems to have.
So the Sony Xperia M2 Smartphone doesn't appear to be so Smart then...and I am bitterly disappointed that I will have to send this phone back for professional repair or replacement unless some bright spark has a solution for me...
i've come to the part when i click start. But then the program asks me to remove the battery for 5 seconds then put it back in before i try to start it. But i got a sony xperia z3, i can't remove the battery in that..
th program wants me to turn on the phone.. but that's the problem.. i can't turn it on.. how does this help?
My SP makes a connection sound then a disconnect sound on my pc so i can't do anything with it!
Bro Download stock rom using xperifim n flash it using sony flashtool

i have the same issue, but my phone (Sony Z1 SO-02F) sudden death after i do accept for clockworkmod. do it on purpose after seeing some video for rooting and flashing rom but i guess my major mistake is faking the CMY (since i cannot find CMY i just accept it for reboot without CMY file .img) i though it will turning on but it wont turn it on. Sorry i dont know how to detail it since im zero on doing flashing rom. I already do software repair on Sony Companion. My software successfull updated but still cant turn on after 2mins pressing the Power on button. It turn out only Red light over and over.
Is theres any chance to reviving my phone again? hope someone can helping me resolve this! thanks!
