Water Damaged xperia z ultra

Hey guys, my Xperia Z ultra was thrown into a pool with a depth of around 1.5m. The flaps were on tight, and was left at the bottom the pool for around 7 min. When the phone was retrieved, the phone turned on and was functioning. The phone was left on the side for about 20 min while I had a swim. I then tried turning the phone on, but didn't turn on. The only functioning thing was the vibrator motors, every time I held the power button to turn it on it vibrated for about 5 min. When I opened the flaps there was water droplets on the inside, I have since put it in a plastic container filled with rice to help dry it out. I have also searched online on ways to dry out phones. This is when I tried air out from the ports to try dry out the phone, a bit of water had come out. I had left the phone to dry over night, by the morning I looked at the litmus indicator had turned red, and the back camera lense had fogged up. I have tried charging the phone but, powering on isn't possible, the notification light does go orange but flashes! I was playing around with the power+up buttons and managed to get the screen to display the SONY start up logo for a few seconds until it stopped. Can somebody please help me, and share their thoughts on this and whether or not to send it to Sony.

I also just discovered that the flaps seals are starting to come off! Its only 5 months old and the seals are already come off, this must be a faulty component or at least very poor quality.

There is a repair agent (Fonebiz 09 531 5800) in New Market, however you are correct regarding that handset not being sold here. Unfortunately I can really only advise going back to the seller on this one sorry.

Take your phone to a Sony repair center and request a vacuum test

I live in New Zealand, and I don't think there is any  Sony repair center. And the xperia zu isn't officially sold here. But thanks for reply Slightly_smiling_Face

Mine too,, i used my xperia z to capture photos in a swimming pool, i think i use it for 2 or 3 min, then suddenly it just turned off and i can't turn it on, so i go to a sony center here in the philippines, and it will take 2 or 3 weeks to know the status of my phone cause they need to ship my phone to the main service center, i hope water damage didn't affect the main board because when  it does, it will be expensive like buying a new xperia z,

to everyone there that is using this kind of smartphone, just don't test it in the water, they are not that waterproof..

hi mate,

i had pretty much the EXACT incident and result happen to me yesterday. How did you end up going about resolving the issue? and what was the outcome?

im undecided whether to take it to Sony, or just take it to one of the private mobile repair businesses.

@ntrn89 - Please refrain from using third party repair agents as they will not have access to the correct parts/tools to correctly repair the handset and return it to warrantable condition.

dude, its better if u sent it to sony service center, because they have the right tool to open the phone and the right adhesive to assemble it, and also a parts replacement might be needed to fix ur phone, mine is that, they replace my battery and camera, but they didn't fix my speaker, whcih im very annoyed og because it will take them 3weeks to return your phone and it cost me $100
