unresponsive touch screen few days after marshmallow update.

Hello.

I'm asking for some advise with the issue I'm having with my z3 compact.

I was really happy,the phone never had any issues and I always did the software updates when they become available.

Now the phone has 3 days untill the end of the warranty and a few days after the update to marshmallow the screen stopped responding to touch,I couldn't turn off the phone or carried out a backup because the phone is locked.

I was able to turn off the phone using power button and volume up,but after it restarted the problem with the screen continues.

I've decided to do the software repair with sony companion(loosing all my data) but even so the problem wasn't solved.

And to had up the retailer were I bought the phone NEW in New Zealand sold the business and the new owner doesn't care...sony New Zealand says they can't do anything about it because it was boght in a parallel importer..but if the 1 year warranty is international shouldn't they be able to help me?!

It's like this update is programed to damage the phones so people decide to buy a new one...do you really think that would happen? I'm even already regreted that I bought a new sony action cam...:smileyshame_on_you:

Sorry for the long text.

Any help is welcome

Cheers.

@samsun
It might be a hardware problem not related to updates then, and sadly we can't help you here as users with maintenance issues. You'll need to visit an authorised repair shop and get your phone diagnosed by a professional.

Ps: Sony warranty is not international, it's local/regional.

@samsun

Of course no update is intended to damage phones, I upgraded 4 of my Sony phones to Marshmallow already and they all work fine. Can you confirm that the Software repair process was successfully completed?

Hello.

I already payed (and it wasn't cheap) to get it fixed in a authorized sony repair shop, it got a new screen,and it's working fine now.

I already got the official information that sony mobile phones don't have international warranty, but it's completly absurd, if you go on vacations or move to another country you end up with a very expensive paper weight.

I guess I was lucky with my old wt19i...it still works like new after all these years and i didn't even used a cover on that one...

the z3 compact will be my last sony,never again...very disapointed.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers.

I have the similar issue, parts of the screen doesn't work, several keys on the keyboad doesn't work, I cannot swipe to unlock, swiping from top doesn't work properly, Cannot swipe to pick up calls. It stopped all of a sudden no rhyme and Reason. 8 months back The Phone went off on its own never could bring it back then I gave it for service and the service center replaced entire PCB and SCREEN thank got it was under warranty at that time. The Phone just Dies. This only points to the reliability of the Product and Equipment. Now the service centre is asking for HK$1250+150 for replacing the screen since I don't have warrenty and they simply say that you have used it for 1 year. So useless. Even if I pay the money and replace the part after few months it will simply DIE. One should never Buy Sony Products

Same problem for me: part of the screen (a 1cm vertical strip and the notification zone) is unresponsive. I sent it to Sony for repair under warranty( in France), but they answered it's a warranty exclusion and want me to pay for the repair. I'm obviously contesting this answer, as it appears to be really a widely spread issue!

Would someone from Sony be kind to give everybody an update on the investigations of Sony on this known problem?

I sent it to Sony for repair under warranty (I'm in Italy).

I wish that SONY not make me pay for a touchscreen problem... that is not my fault.

I will update when I know something more.

I hope SONY give some answer here.

UPDATE1:

I meet another person with a Z3 Compact and he have the same problem with touchscreen... probably he send to repair soon...

He buy the phone 6 months after me, so is not a single smartphone problem... or a "pack" of smartphone with that problem...

Maybe is ALL the Z3 Compact that sooner or later will have the same ISSUE
