Sound problem with Z5

When I play a music either via headphone or via Bluethoot speakers I hear sound deformations / noise / Sizzles
Some time I also have the problem when I call.
I've restarted the phone and I still have the problem.

I don't have the phone myself, but my girlfriend is about to buy it.

But your description sounds like the phone has a built-in limiter/compressor.

My HTC had the same issue, and they even boasted that it had "special Beats By Dre sound".

However, that was just a compressor/limiter, that you couldn't turn off.

I guess they put it in there to enhance the perceived loudness when playing music, probably to make up for a lousy amplifier.

The problem with a compressor/limiter is, that the more you turn up the volume, the more the limiter will be working overtime (especially with bass-heavy songs because the bass takes more of the "overall energy" in the mix).

That's why, when you try to turn up the bass the overall mix gets even more overworked and you lose volume.

Often you will hear the whole mix kind of "pumping" up and down at the rythm of the bass drum.

The only "solution" is to turn down the bass, and don't turn the volume all the way up on the phone.

Possibly get some headphones with more surplus.

Any other solutions as there r some aftermarket headphones which need high input to create that bass punch. N I don't know what's the benefit of equaliser and a separate clear bass function when when it has limiter which will lower the sound when bass is increased. As m a loud music lover n I like to hear loud music with good bass. Sony should give some option to turn that limiter off.

If you experience a sound distortion while listening to music after the update to Android 6.0, try turning off automatic optimization and see if this helps.

To turn off the Automatic optimization

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings > Sound & notification > Audio settings > Sound effects.
  3. Find and tap Automatic optimization.
  4. Drag the slider beside On to the left.

This issue will be fixed in an upcoming software update.

I use Bluetooth sbh20 and sbh54 with bose in ear hp (sound ultra, soundtrue, ie2), on Lollipop sound was great, on Marshmallow is distorted, try everything, nothing help. Hope for improvement in next update.
Now my son Xperia Z3C have better sound than z5.
Even my old Xperia S have better sound.
Is possible to rollback to Lollipop?
I try with flashtool but didn't work, must repair with Xperia companion.

I've been using the Z5 premium for music for awhile and there's a problem with the automatic optimisation for the headphones I always encountered. Whenever I plug in the headphones and play some music, whether with the official music app or poweramp, it always takes awhile for the optimisation to happen.
Is there a way to make it faster?
