Ringtone and notifications not working after android 6 update

I have noticed that ringtones and notifications are not working even though the volume in settings is at highest and a valid song is being set as ringtone.

I tried adding different ringtones and notification tones but it's in vain.

Music player works fine and there is no physical damage.

Help!

@AJINKYA17 where is the music stored? If it is on external memory, try adding something from internal memory.

@alexdon tried, not working! Usually when we move the volume level of ringtone it plays for a short duration, it is not playing now. Tried setting ringtone from settings panel as well as music player.

@AJINKYA17 Ok, try this: settings - apps - all, tap on 3 dots and reset app preferences.

Boot in safe mode and give it a try.

@alexdon Yes it is working in safe mode. How do I make it work in normal mode?

In this case, a 3rd party app is creating this problem. What have you installed before the update?

I have installed lot of apps, it's working fine after a normal restart.
