"Unfortunately Video Editor has stopped." - PROBLEM

Hello,

My phone is an Xperia Z3 from Verizon.

Recently, I was prompted to download the latest version of Android OS which I believe is Lollipop 5.1.1.

Ever since getting this new version - when I attempt to edit an mp4 on my phone, when I go to save it, it repeatedly reports, "Unfortunately Video Editor has stopped."  I was able use video editor before when I had the other version of adroid on the phone.  for some reason, I also had 2 instances of Video Editor on my list of apps in the Application manager. Now I have only 1. So after searching for an answer, I tried a few things such as clearing the data and the cache on the video editor app in the settings on the phone. One person said to uninstall the app, but that there was no uninstall app available.

What can I do? Editing videos such as mp4s was no problem until I got Lollipop 5.1.1.

Thank you so much for your help!

What if you uninstall the app updates?

What if you uninstall the app updates?

Hi ULIWOOLY,

when you say uninstall the updates, do you mean the updates to only that app specifically? How do I do that?

Sorry for not knowing.

In lollipop this is how to uninstall updates

Settings > apps > all > look for the app > uninstall update

I went to Settings/Application Manager/All - found the video editor.

the only buttons there are:

"Force Stop"

"Disable"

"Clear Data"

"Clear Cache"

What can I try next?

Uliwooly,

I found that it was only that ONE video that created this problem. When I attempted to edit other videos, I was successful.  The video that stopped video editor had the same extension as the others, but I'd bet it was really another type of file and the folks who upladed it to youtube may have changed the extension - something like that. I will mark your solution as the remedy.

thanks, Chrissy
