hi guys, i bought xperia z5 dual. the phone looks great and features are awesome on paper. but i spend half a lakh only to buy a showpiece.
the phone heats up like crazy. z5 has 3gb ram which is usefull only for call recieving and sending some text msges. i cant even start a basic game, it heats up like crazy. it has amazing camera features, again can click 1 or 2 pics. the phone just heats up.
i mean its redicilous that a phone heats up so much tat u cant even touch it.
i have been using sony phones for past 10yrs... and its really disappointing to have heating machine for 50k.
i would request the concern authorities to look into it and find the solution if not i will escalate this issue to another level.
ITS REALLY DIASPPOINTING
Overheating is not the word. Burning hot is closer to the truth. I bought two Z5's. My phone heats up so hot, I can't hold it.
My son's is the same. Both phones get soo hot they turn off! We bought cases so's we could use them!
The back button just won't work at the best of times on my phone. Over and over...nothing, just stays there - hot and frozen.
Notification sounds work once during each conversation. Put the phone down to wait for a txt, five minutes later, txt is there, no notification?? Why not?? Over and over again.
Surely Sony tested these phones before unleashing them on a Loyal community??
My phone turned off at 33% battery level and while I was sleeping. Won't restart. Had to re-boot. Didn't work (over an hour!). In being repaired already!!! It's not three weeks old!!! So hard to copy and paste simple web addresses and phone numbers. What happened to ease of use??
My Sony xperia S (three years young) is still going strong and copy and paste is a breeze.
Can't understand the rocker volume position!! What's with that?? “Slowly and gently move hand down the phone until your thumb touches the rocker”. Such a tall phone and such a low rocker. Why? The thumb is closer to the top of the phone, just where the rocker should be. I guess that's a design flaw but important. Form follows function, yet not in this case. Made for tiny hands???
Tried to delete a couple txt conversations and each one took over a minute to delete. What’s with that??
On the Z5 flip side, love the camera and the screen is to die for. Excellent camera and screen. Love the 'Face in Picture' option and why Sony doesn't market the wonderful FinP concept is a real surprise. My friends all love FinP. Brilliant videos and Pictures. Very good to excellent, every time.
Overall, if Sony attends to the overheating, notification, back-button and copy and paste issues the Sony xperia Z5 will surely be; 'beauty perSONYfied'.
Finally; Z6 will have a high volume rocker, or it's all over. There simply aren't enough ‘tiny hands’ people in the world to justify the market of such design implementation.
Not true that it won't overheat. That's why they shut down. I didn't buy this phone to have it constantly overheat and shut down. Mine burned soo bad it now won't restart and after just a few weeks it's in for repair!!! Z5's do overheat and badly! My promise to you is that if I had known about the very important issues of Sony Z5 phones I would not have purchased. I purchased two!! I think possibly Z5's are manufactured in different factories and maybe there's at least one factory using cheap and faulty components. To have some phones buring up and some not is mysterious for sure. Why my back-button wouldn't work and why notifications sounds will not sound is a question for the ages but at $1,000 per phone I think Sony has an obligation to recall or at least answer the question of faulty workmanship. Good luck with yours though.
I bought a Z5 dual yesterday, started it and thought i'd give the "real football 2015" a try, that came with it. After playing for around 2-3 minutes.. the upper back of the device started heating. After sometime while trying out the camera features (23mp pics n 1080p video recording of length 1-2 mins), the heating started again and this time the device got really hot. So, i decided to let it cool and kept it in my pocket again. But it was still "burning" in my pocket for another good 12-15 mins. It hasn't even been a day, and I have experienced some serious overheating in every little activity (I haven't yet dared to record 4k or install a heavy game). Also, I did update the firmware as soon as i got back home, but no improvement.
So, what's up Sony?
I was using an Xperia P till yesterday, for god's sake. Never had a problem. Finally decided to upgrade after years. Extremely disappointed.
Anybody with any improvements?
Greetings,
I dont really have any improvements in the overheating chapter of the Xperia z5 family even after the latest update. but i will share my story. i played terminator genisys for good 2 hours avoidng my fingers/hand to touch the back panel from how hot it was. if i touch it i am sure it will cause burns or injury, so i took it to the extreme by not giving it rest, wasnt intentional but its rediculious to stop playing while enjoying it so mr z5 compact have a rest. never ever in my past xperisa or non xperia phone i even thought of such thing. anyways i played until i heard a little crack, guess what? the back glass panel cracked from the heat half way through so i immedetly stop to give it rest wondering if the screen would crack. it did cool off then i was like i will never do this again. i took it to the shop and it took a good week to order a glass in and replace it. i payed for it. here where i am at they do not understand the fact that glass self crack. they blamed me on dropping it or misusing it so i payed and now due to some other issues i factory data reseted the device and never installed any games because i know i wont play them in such unreliable device that over heats. actually get extremely hot. what the point of having the strongest CPU in the market with them 8 cores and cant even use it? you tell me.
also take time to read threads on overheating and you will read a lot of comments from upset, actually very upset users. most of people here are facing this issue. evern owners of Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 premium. its unfortunate and i hope sony is listening to us and reduce this cpu thing in a software update or something to avoid the overheating and save more battery. because once you notice the device getting hot you will see the battery dropping like a mad battery.
good luck
greetings,
just to mention to you that this z5 compact is my second one. the first one did the same thing with the overheating but because there were pixels that were burned they replaced it at their cost and the second one have the excat same issues with overheating and from how people are explaining overheating issue as it gets extremely hot i do not believe it is a fault or patch issue. i am sure its hardware issue in all z5 xperisa and the reason is the build-in cpu
Does anyone know the max temp for the failsafe? I found the apk for the temperature failsafe, but I haven't had a look at it yet because I'm still reading and learning Android API
My Z5 overheated so much that it has bent just like the Z1 and Z3 but the screen didnt break so was still able to use it now have sent it to Sony and there denying the problem yet again I have a website started to make a class action against them and there horrible nasty staff.
If yiu have delt with these people and have got no where then message me for my site details, I have contacted watchdog so if we can all be in one place it is easier to see just how many peoplke this company has sold its dodgy goods too.
I swapped over from Samsung Galaxy to try these new fantastic Z5's everyone is raving about
Well a few days after receiving it I was using it in just normal camera mode & after a very short time the phone started shutting down with overheating warnings.
It was a warm day outside, around 35 degrees celcius. Keep in mind in Australia we have days in summer in excess of 40 degrees. Most days are above 30.
The phone just kept crashing. Absolutely useless.
I immediately contacted my service provider expressing my dissappointment with this product and requested I swap it over for an S^ Edge Galaxy.
Their response...you guessed it. NO
Can only send it for repair or replacement.
Now what is the point..how can Sony repair something if they dont even acknowledge there is an issue ?....or do they ?
Why replace with another phone that will do the same thing.
I figure the Z5's are just not suited to the warmer climates / environments.
Might be a good phone if you live in Alaska or Iceland or climbing Mount Everest but not in countries with hotter climates.
I have never owned previous brand phones with such an issue.
Now it looks like I may be stuck with this junker on a two year contract after only just receiving it.
My advice if you are looking for a new phone and there is a possibility that it may be used in an environment that exceeds 30 degrees celcius then purchase something else.... the Z5 will not be for you.
