On-screen buttons getting pressed during calls

Hi all,

First post here. I just bought my z2 and I absolutely love it but am deeply disheartened and concerned by one problem I'm having which pretty much is the most important thing I need.

Almost every time I make a call - the mute, speaker, end call or other buttons get pressed while I'm talking. I've tried to make sure that the proximity sensor is covered by my ear and it still happens. I've also run the diagnostics and although they pass I've noticed that the vibration for the proximity sensor test does not always stay on if I put the phone up against my ear and move it around. Eventually the vibration turns off and some on screen buttons are pressed.

Is this a problem with only my Z2 or a design fault. I'm gravely concerned that replacing it with a new one is going to cause the same issue. For a phone that cost me an arm and a leg I wasn't expecting problems that I never had with any other phone.

Please help.

Thanks.

@GavDroi: Turn off "Tap to wake up"

@vlk239 I don't have it enabled, so that's not the cause. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I am having the same problem...! And my most common side effect is to hung up the call in the middle of a conversation...
I don't have the "Tap to wake up" feature on but I do use the power button to end calls. I will disable it to see if it makes a difference.

This almost renders my phone unusable for making phone calls...

Sony please help...!

Are you by any chance using the official Sony Style Cover Stand? In other words the Sony protective case

I am not using any case.

Well it turns out that "Tap to wake up" was enabled... I turned it off and the problem seems to have gone away. I reactivated the power button to hung up function and I am continuing the test.

I like the 'tap to wake up' feature (even though I'm tapping the screen like a loon. What i don't like is the way my face sends messages or changes settings while the screen is apparently inactive, i shouldn't need to turn one feature off just because there's a flaw with the phone.

On.a side note, if I'm playing Google Ingress i can play the game but when i exit it the screen is the swipe to unlock screen. Why is the phone locking itself when an app is running? Could this be something to do with the issue we're all having?

I'm having this problem and it's a shame, because as others have said, this is the best phone I've ever had....other than its ability to make phone calls. I've bought an SBH80 headset to work around the issue in the office, but why should I have to, and what happens when I'm out and about? I don't think I've made or received a call in the usual way without it disconnecting because of this.

it's so bad, I'm missing my old Blackberry, because you know what, at least it worked as a phone!
