I switched over from my Galaxy S4 to a Sony Z3.
After I have installed all the apps again everything works fine accept the badge icon that indicates how many unread messages I have for WhatsApp.
The unread messages badge works fine on apps like email and messages.
I am on Android version 6.0.1
security patch 1 feb 2016
kernel version: 3.4.0
build number: 23.5.A.0.570
I tried te suggested steps from WhatsApp but haven’t found the solution yet. My colleague has the same phone and at his phone everything works fine.
Any suggestions?

Sad face, but true...
I guess is should wait for an update from sony or WhatsApp to fix this issue.
Other option is to factory resey my phone and hope its goes back to androaid previus version.
This case can be closed.
I finally got my 6.0.1 update yesterday for my Z3 UK edition. Prior to updaing, badge icon was working fine for Nine email client and now it's not working. The app grid has also changed to 4x5 with no way of changing it back. Going to try a different launcher.
Hi @Unread,
Welcome to the community.
Android does not include notification badges on app icons by default. There are third party launchers available from places such as the Google Play Store that can add this functionality if you want it.
