No sound from phone

Been having problems for a while. My phone keeps saying headphones in when there not. I've tried playing a song and there's no sound and also when someone tried ringing me. What do I do?

have you exposed the phone to water recently? 

check if there's anything inside the heaphone jack

Sorry to hear about this. This could be software orientated, try booting the device into Safe Mode and advise us if the issue is still occurring.

This will help determine if the issue is third party related or hardware related such as @uliwooly has stated.
